Impact Wrestling screwed up by not resigning Matt and Jeff Hardy

Impact Wrestling has gone through a lot of change over the last few months. Starting from when then- owner Billy Corgan was going to sue them to Dixie Carter leaving the company. Then there was an upswing as Anthem and Fight Network invested money in keeping the company afloat and Jeff Jarrett was brought back into the picture to lead them. Unfortunately, it may not have gotten worse for them as they have several superstars contracts up and some of the top names have left the company.

Over the past year, Impact Wrestling has seen guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, and others. Well, now you can add two more names to that list and I feel one of these could have major impacts on the ImpactWrestling brand for the future. It was reported earlier last week that Drew Galloway has left the company after his contract expired. Then the bigger blow to the company came yesterday when it was announced through several wrestling sites that Matt and Jeff Hardy did not re-sign their contracts. While the future for Galloway isn’t clear, there is a strong indication that the Hardy Boyz will be going back to WWE.

Impact Wrestling really screwed this one up as they lost their two biggest draws in Matt and Jeff Hardy. Also, I don’t understand why they didn’t take the tag titles off of them if they knew that Matt and Jeff were probably not going to resign. The issue that faces Impact Wrestling is they don’t have anyone who can come in and fill the voids that Matt and Jeff were for that company. If Impact Wrestling takes a hit from losing the Hardy Boyz, I will find it interesting to see if they stay afloat and not get sold to another promotion.

I am aware that they have superstars like Bobby Lashley, Eli Drake, and Eddie Edwards as the top heels in Impact Wrestling, but they don’t have anyone who can draw people like the Hardy’s did. In addition, there will probably be a legal battle between Impact Wrestling and Matt Hardy over his “Broken Gimmick,” which has helped rejuvenate his career.

If the rumors are true that Matt and Jeff Hardy go to WWE, I am hopeful that Matt can keep his TNA gimmick as that was one of the most over gimmicks in a long time. I could already see the promos between Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt if they go to Smackdown and not Raw.

This will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next few weeks for both the future of Impact Wrestling and WWE.
