Jennifer Lopez Receiving Oscar Buzz For Hustlers?
Is this correct? Is Jennifer Lopez really on that short list of Oscar-worthy actresses after her performance in “Hustlers”? According to Screen Rant, she is. I’ll admit, this is a bit of a shock. I haven’t viewed the movie yet but according to the Atlantic, “Lopez was mesmerizing”.
“Hustlers” is a true story about New York strippers who scammed the wealthy who visited the clubs during the financial crisis in the late 2000s. But still, Lopez winning an Oscar for this?
What also has the industry buzzing is that “Hustlers” is set to open big at the Box Office. According to Deadline, the movie, which opens Thursday is expected to haul in $25-30M for the weekend. That will mark Lopez’s biggest opening weekend to date.
Lopez has starred in quite a few movies over her career but none has given her that A-List Hollywood cred that “Hustlers” has. If Jennifer Lopez does indeed bring the house down as her portrayal of Romana, she can pretty much write her ticket in Hollywood.
As a Bronx resident, this is wonderful news for Jenny From The Block. Let’s bring that Oscar home J-Lo.
