Jon Moxley Is Already Creating A Buzz Outside Of WWE

Jon Moxley

Dean Ambrose is no more. The former WWE star and future Hall of Fame member (yes, he’ll get in with the Shield) has dropped a teaser video hyping his return as Jon Moxley. After his stint in WWE, it would appear that new endeavors are on the horizon.

Everyone wants to know where Moxley is going next. There have been rumors about a debut in AEW. In fact, the video alluded to that possibility. There is a graphic of dice, which contain the numbers 2 and 5. Seeing as the first AEW event, Double or Nothing is in Las Vegas on May 25th, this is worth speculating.

Members of the AEW roster (Cody, Jericho, Pac, Brandi Rhodes) have worked with Moxley before in WWE. There’s a relationship with some of the brand’s bigger stars. It’s definitely wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up at the event. Of course, there’s always the chance he debuts elsewhere or works another promotion in addition to AEW.

One name that keeps popping up is CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling), the former stomping grounds of Moxley. The teaser video did a good job hyping up the extreme side of the character. Seeing as CZW revolves around that, the chances are high. However, a wrestler that has the fanfare of Moxley won’t just settle for CZW.

Let’s say Moxley opts to join another top wrestling organization. We’ve mentioned AEW, but how about IMPACT, MLW, or ROH? These could all happen for Moxley. The likely of the trio Is MLW. Court Bauer (MLW President) has assembled a definitive roster of talent.

Moxley would fit right in, with MLW. He could have some memorable matches with Mance Warner, Sami Callahan, LA Park, Filthy Tom, among others. He’d be one of MLW’s biggest money makers. And for a brand that has a solid TV deal with BeIn Sports, they can use the push Moxley will give them.

There was some thought given that this video was funded by WWE. Perhaps Moxley was his new in-ring name, leaving Dean Ambrose behind. Rest assured, there’s no way this has anything to do with WWE. Taking a deep dive into the video will tell you that.

There are numerous metaphors relating to the WWE in the Moxley video. First, the prison he’s breaking out of symbolizes his escape from WWE. We then see the big dog chasing him. There’s little doubt this references Roman Reigns (He’s called the Big Dog), whose shadow Ambrose was trying to escape from his entire tenure in WWE.

Wherever Jon Moxley ends up, he’ll no longer be living in the shadows of someone else. He’s the biggest name in wrestling right now. There’s a lot of buzz over where he goes next. Regardless of where Moxley is, that organization will make a ton off of him as a main eventer.
