Las Vegas Raiders: Offseason Panic Mode 2021 Edition
The Las Vegas Raiders managed to make it back to even, finishing the season at 8-8. When they signed Jon Gruden to a 10-year deal, they expected a slow turnaround. Despite them making strides, will they regress back into panic mode?
Underperforming Rookies?
Whether it was just bad scouting or just bad scheme the Raiders rookies didn’t make the impact fans had hoped. While most players take some time to develop, the Raiders invested heavily in their rookies and needed to see more out of them. Less blame is on the players and more so on the decision-makers for the team.
Can Gruden Be Successful In Today’s NFL?
The NFL just isn’t what it used to be. Gruden is however the same coach. Can his old fashion ways catch up with today’s style? Explosive plays are more prevalent and high-scoring affairs are the regular. Nothing about the Raiders seemed like they were in control on either side of the ball. They played to the level of their opponents and if they excelled on offense or defense against opponents they woulda had a better shot.

Invest In Carr or Move On
It seems like Las Vegas will always be confused when it comes to Derrick Carr. Each year the rumors persist that they’re moving on from the 29-year old quarterback. Then they miss out on free agency and it’s almost as if they settle for Carr. Since he had one of his better seasons last year this shouldn’t even be a discussion, but the rumors are still floating around that they’ll move on. Either give him the respect he deserves or allow him to go to a team that will.
Pull the Trigger On Free Agents
It seems like the Raiders are always in on big-name free agents, but only sign the ones that trickle through. Either they’ve got a firm plan in place or they’re not the destination they hope they are. Las Vegas might be a fun tourist town and have a lot to offer, but unless the Raiders can compete with the Chiefs, no one is going to a team to lose.
The Las Vegas Raiders should be at the tipping point this season or Coach Gruden needs to be on the hot seat. Making strides is one thing, but if you’re not competing four years in, you’ve been given more time than most coaches. Put up or shut up.
