Lifestyle: Coronavirus Gave Us Back Time For Our Hobbies

2020 hobbies

2020 might be a wash thanks to COVID but it hasn’t all been bad. Even though we’ve primarily been stuck in the house, there’s been plenty of housekeeping and in-home activities that you could be taking advantage of. If 2020 has taught us anything, its that the time off and time at home is the perfect opportunity to take up new hobbies and learn new things.

If you’re stuck at home you might as well try new things. One of the biggest takeaways is just how much we’ve lost focus on improving ourselves working day to day, paycheck to paycheck, and getting into a slow and painful routine. While self-care has fallen to the back burner, this year has stressed just how much we should take the time on ourselves.

More Lifestyle: 2020 Isn’t As Bad As It Seems

First and foremost, getting back our free time for hobbies has made dealing with the chaos so much better. So far in 2020, I’ve gotten back to one of the few simple pleasures I often don’t have too much time for. Growing up, in high school I took a bunch of cooking classes. Admittedly so because that was the class a lot of the girls I was friends with took and the tech classes or shop classes just weren’t challenging enough. So now that most of the world is opening back up I’m throwing back to something I’ve always sorta enjoyed.

But that’s what 2020 is all about. We work all day and get so caught up in our lives that we forget what we have time to enjoy. So much is either wasted on actual work or on resting and recouping the energy from working so hard that we forget the little things. If the coronavirus never happened would I have had time to go back and relearn something I enjoyed so much? Would we have time for the hobbies and things we enjoyed if we weren’t forced into our homes and away from people?

Nothing about the pandemic has been worth celebrating. But if you’re one of the people who like to look on the bright side then take 2020 at face value. It has sucked 200% but at the end of the day the little victories for more time for ourselves, our hobbies, and with our family have been a blessing.
