Long Island Ducks defeat New Britain behind strong pitching
The Long Island Ducks and the New Britain Bees squared off in Game 2 of the three-game set. After falling in game 1, the Ducks were able to make the bounce back to win 7-4. Manager Kevin Baez would end up sending Matt Larkins to the hill and he didn’t disappoint. He went five innings, giving up six hits and two runs. In addition, He walked three and stroke out seven. However, he didn’t get the win for the game. Wander Perez received the win and Francisco Rodriguez registered the save with a lights-out ninth inning.
One thing you can say that helped the Ducks a lot was after Perez pitched the sixth, the Ducks ended up beating untouchable in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. On the other hand, the Bees had an interesting time with the pitching. I’ve learned in my years of being a baseball fan, to win, you need to hit the other team big time. It doesn’t matter if it’s the majors, minors, or the Independent League. As far as the Ducks go, they continued to get the hitting that has made them a force to be wreaking with.
It’s worth noting that Rob Garcia was the only one who went yard for the Ducks. However, they would end up getting help from other guys. Lew Ford, Wilson Castillo, David Washington contributed for the Ducks.
In the games that I’ve seen the Ducks play, it seems that they will be gritty enough to try and get on base any way they can. They have one more game with New Britain before they get their first eyes on the Sugar Land Skeeters and the Philadelphia Road Warriors who will be coming to Long Island for the next week.
