Long Island Ducks Fall To Somerset, Now Turn To Maryland In Home Opener

The Long Island Ducks and the Somerset Patriots wrapped up their series on Thursday night. We would have another classic between the two teams with the win going to Somerset. They would end up winning the game 6-5 in 11 innings.

With the win, the Somerset Patriots are now 5-1 and hold a two-game lead over the Ducks. With the loss, the Ducks now fall to 3-3. They stand a game ahead of the Road Warriors, who have won two in a row. These two teams will clash again in two weeks on the weekend of May 18th.

[JonBlayneAds] As far as this game, you can’t really put the blame on any one specific area. With the game tied in the 7th, it was simply a back and forth game that the Patriots ended up getting the advantage.

The Ducks went 3-3 on this road trip to open the season.

After this series with the Patriots, they now head home for a three-game set with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and then have another road series with the New Britain Bees. It’s worth noting that neither of these teams are tough as they have a combined record of 1-11. The Ducks should easily make a rebound before the Sugar Land Skeeters come into town next weekend. Right now, the Skeeters are the best team in the Atlantic League.

Some things that the Ducks need to improve on is not leaving so many players on base. It’s tough to win a game when you are leaving multiple guys on base. They also need to get the bullpen back to where it was when it seemed they were shutting the door on a nightly basis. The Patriots are set to begin a series with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

The Ducks home opener is May 4th at 6:35 pm.
