Marvel

This week, Marvel has been at the forefront of the news cycle for a number of reasons. As big as the brand has become over the last 10 years, insiders are expecting more from the signature studio that has brought us The Avengers, Captain America, Black Panther, and more. With Kevin Feige at the helm, Marvel is set to take over the big and small screen beginning in late 2020 and beyond.

But with much success comes issues. For starters, Disney nows own their share of Fox, and with that comes the X-Men and others like Deadpool. Fans of the Ryan Reynolds’ character are waiting to see what Marvel will do with those characters and how DP will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, according to insiders, Feige is not a huge fan of Deadpool.

According to We Got This Covered, insiders are saying this about the possible pairing: “because he isn’t a particularly big fan of the character and doesn’t see how he can fit into the established order of the MCU, thinking Wade Wilson is too goofy and will cause issues with the current continuity and story being told”.

If this is true, this would be a huge blow not only to Deadpool 3 but the MCU as well. If money is the name of the game, then Deadpool would be another huge hit for Marvel Studios. But Feige is high on content. Think about Falcon and Spider-Man. Great characters but will their school-boy presence work well with Wade Wilson?

This is what Feige is looking at. He sees the chemistry and what Marvel has stood for and not the money. Anything associated with Marvel will bring in the money but will Feige sacrifice character development just to appease Box Office success?

With Deadpool movies, the bad guys actually are killed, either by gun or some form of violent sword action. It’s the same with Wolverine. Looking back at Logan, it was pretty graphic in terms of violence. How many MCU movies have gone that route?

As a fan, adding Deadpool would bring a different element to the MCU but even I can admit that Marvel may want to tone down his character. His raunchiness is what makes him so appealing to the masses and Feige knows that he cannot mix his gritty style with the PG-13 rating that Marvel movies have gotten in the past.

We all want it to work but the truth is, there is no way it could.
