Marvel Snap Might Be Your New Favorite Mobile Game
When it comes to card games, Pokemon, Magic The Gathering, and Yu Gi Oh have dominated the market for years. However, all of the sudden there are more and more popping up every day. With technology moving at a rapid pace, plenty of them have made their way to mobile as well. While it may take the collectible aspect of these games off the table it also helps spawn new life into them. Marvel being as popular as it’s ever been has even joined in the mix with the mobile game Marvel Snap.
From Wikipedia
Marvel Snap is a digital collectible card game developed by Second Dinner and published by Nuverse for Microsoft Windows, Android and iOS. The game features a collection of different Marvel characters from the Marvel Universe. The game was released on 18 October 2022, after a period of beta testing.
While the game is still new, it has plenty going for it. First, it’s not an overly complex game. Unlike say Magic: The Gathering, it has cards that play off of each other, but it doesn’t take a series of instances after instances to buff and counter other cards. The majority of the cards being played are single-step cards. Whether they’re “on reveal” (instance happens right away) or “ongoing” (continues throughout the game), more often than not they don’t need a series of cards to make it happen. Keeping it simple it makes it understandable for players of all ages.

Typically when a game like this dumbs down the play style it often alienates older gamers who feel like it’s a children’s game. Luckily, Marvel Snap still adds to its complexity with strategy in the 3 in-game locations. Not only do cards have abilities, but so do the spots they’re played in. Not only do you have to beat your opponent, but you also have to maneuver in a way to maximize your bonuses. With each card you spend energy to play it and too early or too late can cost you buffs or counters.
From the collectible cards in the form of unlockable and rewarded variants to the speed of the game itself, Marvel Snap offers up a new take on card gaming. Each time you upgrade a card you unlock a new tier of that card that tweaks its design. Once they’re fully upgraded you can split the card to unlock a different variation of that card which is usually more rare than the previous version. Couple that with the fact most games last between 3-5 minutes allowing you to play multiple in a shorter time and the pace keeps you engaged.
Too many card games come out and a single game can last too long. With a quick pace, collectible variants, and just enough of a challenge to simplify the game, Marvel Snap is worth the download.
