MCU Theories: Is Hawkeye Setting Up The Next Spider-Man

Kate and Clint In Hawkeye

Three episodes into the latest Disney+ show, Hawkeye, and we’re already seeing a growing roadmap for things to come. Is the current MCU show setting up another movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home?

**Before the deep dive into the latest from the MCU, if you’re not caught up on Hawkeye, DO NOT read past this point**

While we’ve seen Spider-man in the box office for both Sony and Disney, it would take a lot more cooperation for the hero to be part of the streaming service as well. However, it’s not out of the question. Disney and Sony were reportedly working out a deal for the latest Spider-Man trilogy to air on Disney+. How does it affect Hawkeye?

While it would still be considered a stretch, after three episodes there are some very clever breadcrumbs on top of some long-standing rumors. First, the last episode introduced us to Echo, the adoptive daughter of Kingpin. Rumors have been circulating that Vincent D’onofrio was going to be reprising his role as the white-suited villain for a bit now, so it wouldn’t be much of a shock.

There also have been persisting rumors ever since their cancellation at Netflix, that Disney wanted to bring their MCU characters back on the streaming service. Throw in the rumors swirling of Charlie Cox returning to the role of Daredevil, and more rumors he’ll be in the upcoming Spider-Man movie and the trail gets hotter. Kingpin is a thorn in the side of both Daredevil and Spider-Man so it wouldn’t be hard to make happen.

What if the big villain on Hawkeye ends up being Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin? The show is only six episodes so far so it’s a limited series run. If both Peter and Clint end up on a collision course with Kingpin it would set up what we’ve already seen. The No Way Home trailer shows Parker in trouble, they could spend the first chunk of the movie unraveling and explaining the fallout from his fight with Mysterio, but it seems like wasted time.

Imagine this ending if you will: If Daredevil shows up in Spider-man the way it’s rumored, the trio team up and take down the Kingpin at the end of Hawkeye and set up the future of the MCU on Disney+. They would need both stories to run at the same time but going back and revisiting such a short time apart wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

Not only would it be a fantastic ending for Hawkeye, but it would also speed up the story for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and it would set up the future MCU shows to return all in one big swoop. Not that Sony needs the added hype but it would boost the box office for sure. Disney would benefit from laying the groundwork for more shows. People would be talking for days. More than likely it won’t happen, but Hawkeye would be the perfect setup for No Way Home and the MCU.
