Miami Dolphins: 0-16 Is on the Horizon
After last week’s schedule release, we don’t have to worry about the Miami Dolphins “tanking” in 2019. The newly appointed head coach has assured us the team wouldn’t willingly lose football games this season as it would be a disrespect to the game. Luckily for fans who want the Dolphins to lose out to get a franchise quarterback in next year’s draft, they won’t have to try. The NFL has done Miami no favors with this year’s schedule.
Out of the 16 games this season, 50% are against last year’s playoff teams. Six out of the 16 are against division rivals which they always struggle with. Then there’s the stacked Browns offense, the up-and-coming Redskins, and of course the Steelers. Where is there a winnable game? Week 14 against the Giants? Week 15 against the Bengals? Are we 100% certain those are winnable games? By this point in every season, the Dolphins are usually banged up and struggling to keep full units on the field.
Where is Miami going to find all these players who will help the team down the stretch once they’re injured? Right now, they have an aging quarterback, 2 returning starting lineman, Zero productivity at Tight End, a hole at Cornerback, a need at Linebacker, and at least 3 pass rushers. Oh and don’t forget, probably a Wide receiver as Devante Parker has yet to show up to his potential. And that’s just to round out starting units. Seven picks to get upwards of 12 players, and that’s if they knock every pick out of the park.
Owner Stephen Ross says he finally understands the process. Win/Now is finally thrown out of the window. The team has brought in little to no free agents. What they have brought in are journeyman veterans who they’ve signed to 1-2 year deals. Frugalness is great when the team is looking ahead to next year’s draft but what are the Miami Dolphins thinking? A schedule that tough and they haven’t come close to filling a full roster. Building for the future? They’ve clearly shown once again, they have no clue how to run an NFL team.
