Miami Dolphins: 4 Additions To Be Excited Over in 2022

Mike McDaniel's Miami Dolphins press conference

The Miami Dolphins may have crushed their offseason plans. They picked up some big names, made smart moves, and improved the roster overall. Just how much they improved is yet to be seen, but there is a handful of additions to be excited about in 2022:

Mike McDaniel – HC

This one here is the key to their success obviously, the whole reason McDaniel was brought in was for his philosophies on offense. As an OC for the San Francisco 49ers, his scheme strengths were the Dolphins’ weaknesses last year. The run game was virtually nonexistent last year, they lacked balance, and were inconsistent at best. The Miami Dolphins have brought in offensive coordinators that crashed and burned in the past but McDaniel has something they didn’t and that’s an already established defense. While he’ll have his hands in parts of the defense, there’s a good chance the majority of his time is fixing their offense. The defense is strong enough to keep them in games, the offense now has to be strong enough to win them.

More Miami Dolphins: Will Tyreek Hill Have the Same Fantasy Value In Miami?

Tyreek Hill

The Hill hype is a no-brainer. You can’t get one of the fastest WRs in the game and pair him with an explosive second-year player like Jaylen Waddle and not be excited. Waddle was successful last year with limited support on offense. Without knocking their former players, the Dolphins’ WR unit wasn’t exactly the example when it comes to consistency. Of course, the NFL is full of elite players who can shut down a weapon, but teams weren’t full of them, When one player had an off game, other players could’ve stepped up and won their matchups. Tyreek Hill might not go off every game for the Dolphins, but he’ll bring consistency to a unit that struggled in 2021.

Channing Tindall

Tindall should be the player Dolphins fans are most excited for. Despite being picked in the third round, he’ll be a major contributor if he can learn the speed of the NFL quickly. He’s another guy with speed who can limit big plays. He’ll be QB insurance against the run, something the division-leading Buffalo Bills excelled at last year. As a matter of fact, the AFC is full of running QBs who can tuck it for big gains. The one area where Dolphins fans will love Tindall is his ability to tackle. Too many times in the past, Dolphins tacklers would allow extra yardage with shoulder pad tackles. Tindall is a guy who gets to the ball carrier and brings him down.

Chase Edmonds

While the Miami Dolphins have done plenty to pony up for their run game, they might still need a long-term fix. There was talk of them moving around the draft to secure a young RB for the long haul. The quick fix could be Edmonds though. It’s been a bit since the Dolphins have had a power runner behind the line of scrimmage. They need someone like Edmonds to get the extra yard or two to push more 3rd and short scenarios. He might split carries with Raheem Mostert, but Miami should be able to fit him right into their offense.

There’s plenty to be excited over in 2022 with the Miami Dolphins. Some additions, and some from bringing back already successful players. The Dolphins will look different in 2022, but that’s not a bad thing.
