Miami Dolphins Are Proving the Rebuild is Working
Sunday’s win against the 49ers proved one thing, the Miami Dolphins are definitely on their way back up. After a 1-3 start, there is still plenty to doubt just how competitive they’ll be, but they’re doing something past regimes haven’t.
With a 43-17 defeat in San Francisco, the Dolphins notched one of their most impressive wins in a long time. After defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in the same fashion, Miami is proving they can win football games. Some fans and analysts will point out that “it’s the Jags” or a decimated by injury 49ers team and that these wins aren’t as impressive, but that’s where they’re wrong.
More Dolphins: Miami Looks Their Best Against Jags
Miami hasn’t won the games they “should win” in a long time and if they have it hasn’t been dominantly. Through the Gase, Philbin, Cameron years, the team won football games but they at times seemed like luck rather than a team that was improving.
Even when they won those games, the very next game they’d go back to being the same old’ Dolphins, losing extraordinarily. No team in the NFL is a guaranteed win, but when a team is struggling with injuries to the starters, a healthy core unit should be able to win those games and exploit areas of weakness.
Both San Francisco and Jacksonville were beaten up by injuries and Miami was able to come out with a win. In the games they’ve lost, 2 out of 4 teams sit undefeated as of writing this (Bills and Seahawks). The loss to the Patriots and Bills may have exploited some weaknesses, but adjustments were made and they’ve gone 2-1 since out-scoring their opponents 97-61.
No one is penciling the Dolphins in as Super Bowl contenders just yet but there’s a lot to look forward to down in South Florida. The players are loving playing for coach Brian Flores, they’re building consistent play, and they’re playing as a whole. If this is what the new-look Miami Dolphins will look like under Brian Flores, Miami can expect a winner for years to come and a Super Bowl should be in their near future.
