Miami Dolphins: Biggest Game of The Season In Week 2?
With their second divisional matchup within two weeks, the Miami Dolphins have a big test early. Facing the Buffalo Bills at home shouldn’t be as challenging as meeting them in Buffalo, but they’re will challenge Miami nonetheless. After their blowout loss to finish the 2020 season, this has to be a statement game for the ‘phins.
The rivalry was in full swing in the 90s. Jim Kelly might be one of the biggest reasons Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl. Each team fell apart in the 2000s and are finally starting to recover. The Bills brought in Josh Allen who is leading them as a powerhouse team in the AFC. The Dolphins took a shot with Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert but have 100% faith he can be their guy.
The Dolphins won 10 games last season and were on their way into a playoff push. Had they won out the rest of their schedule, they were in and the turnaround would’ve seemed complete. However, the Buffalo Bills proved that Miami still had a long way to go blowing them out in a 56-26 heartbreaking loss.
More Miami Dolphins: Ugly Win Leads to First Place Start
That game alone showed just how much work both Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins had to do. Tua would finally be given the green light on downfield action, forced a lot of throws into coverage, and went from just 2 interceptions on the season to 5. The defense that was a force to be reckoned with looked lost and uninspired.
Now in 2021, the Dolphins have their first shot at revenge. Tua Tagovailoa can make his claim on the AFC East quarterback throne if he can go out at look playoff ready. Miami can solidify themselves as solid contenders if they start the season 2-0 in the division. Facing a tough 2020 AFC playoff opponent and walking away with a win can prove the turnaround is working. By no means is their Week 2 matchup a “must-win”, but if ever there was a statement game this would be it.
