Miami Dolphins: Can Fans Be Patient Enough To See This Team Win?

Miami Dplphins

It has to be hard to be a Miami Dolphins fan. After years of waiting for the right guy, they finally have the head coach in place. They’ve got the picks to rebuild. They even had the money to make a splash in free agency. Fans are finally getting the rebuild they deserve.

The only problem is, it’s coming 5-10 years too late. After two decades of losing seasons, can fans trust the process enough to let this team develops.

Miami has one of the youngest teams in the league. Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks was a huge test in which they would inevitable come up short. All over social media fans are ready to pull the plug. Already the cries of “Fire Flores”, “We need Tua”, or even as far as “They better draft Lawrence”.

More Miami Dolphins: Less Is More This Season

Truth be told, the Miami Dolphins are a lot better than their record shows. Yes, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 2 interceptions and getting into the endzone was a challenge. But through all fans’ doom-and-gloom, like the players they need to trust the process.

No the Dolphins won’t be able to be playoff contenders 2 years in. They might upset some teams down the road. Maybe they go on a win streak that even pushes a wild card spot. However, no matter how much you hype up your team this regime is starting from the ground up. There’s more to look forward to that fans won’t see right away.

Looking back at Sunday’s game, despite their struggles they held their own against a quarterback who just keeps winning. Russell Wilson, is a former Super Bowl winner and doesn’t get enough credit as a top quarterback in the league. When you play a quarterback of that caliber, you have to eliminate the mistakes.

Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t play a perfect game but it’s not all on him. Miami has a lot of rookies and a lot of second year players. When you have a team that young and inexperienced they make the mistakes first and second year players make.

It’s easy to ignore mistakes from rookies on championship teams. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, too many raw players making mistakes will cost them football games. Once their young players can develop and cut the mistakes they’d usually work out in preseason, Miami will have a winning football team. These guys have talent with the right coach at the helm. Too bad fans will more than likely give up on them too quickly after decades of failure.
