Miami Dolphins: Is The Bills Rivalry Back On The Table?
After they squeaked out a victory early in the season, the Miami Dolphins had bragging rights until they met again. With a loss on Saturday, the two teams gave everything they had and the Buffalo Bills walked away with the win. The two teams were at the bottom of the division for so long that it almost feels like the rivalry was never there. Now that Buffalo has taken over as the divisional powerhouse, it was thought the rest of the division would be playing catch up.
Despite their win earlier in the season, many claimed the Bills only lost the game due to the overwhelming heat. The thought was once they got back to Buffalo, the Bills would go back to dominating the Dolphins. The cold and snow were going to be their home-field advantage. Miami wouldn’t be able to handle the cold weather and Buffalo could expect to be in the driver’s seat. But it was closer than it was supposed to be.

While the game wasn’t without mistakes, both teams played their backsides off. Miami went into Buffalo and proved that the division isn’t going to be a gimme. Even as the rest of the division is just as competitive this year, the two most talked about teams are the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills led by quarterbacks Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa. The Jets are still struggling to find their franchise quarterback and the New England Patriots are approaching the end of the Belichick era. Until those two teams transition to their net big move, the division is said to be down to two.
Both teams have been on a collision course since the days of Dan Marino and Jim Kelly. They both sat at the bottom of the AFC East for years. It was only a matter of time before they figured out how to get back on top. Just like the days of Marino/Kelly, both teams have gunslingers with talent at their disposal. Buffalo has a few years headstart, but Miami collected talent in the offseason to keep pace.
After showing up against the Bills in Buffalo, hopefully, the Miami Dolphins will make the playoffs and we can see these two teams go at it again. Two very close games all season and fans deserve the rubber match. If the two can stay competitive over the next few years, the rivalry could be back and just as good as before.
