Miami Dolphins: No thank you to Antonio Brown
Before Miami Dolphins fans even jump on the bandwagon, it’s not happening.
With the back-and-forth between the Oakland Raiders and star receiver, there’s a new free agent on the market, Antonio Brown. A bizarre series of events unfolded between Brown and the Raiders this offseason and we’re not picking sides but he’s not coming to Miami.
Every playmaker that becomes available, fans always want to see brought in. However, with $50 million plus dedicated to dead money and a purging of high profile players the Dolphins aren’t spenders this year. They’ve traded late-round picks to low expense players in return. With 13 picks next year, if they were going to make a move for players this year, they would have already.
I know, Antonio Brown was born in Miami, Florida, played football in Miami, and would more than likely love to come home. As a fan, it would be exciting to have the big playmaker ability of Antonio Brown in a Dolphins jersey, but that’s the old regime. That’s how Miami got into this mess, to begin with, paying high-value free agents with the wrong amount of talent around them to perform.
Besides, don’t forget Brian Flores’ ultimatum, put the team first or don’t play for the Miami Dolphins this season. Maybe it was Oakland putting the screws to Brown, maybe it was Brown causing the headache but the fact of the matter remains. Antonio Brown has continuously said he doesn’t need football and right now Miami needs players who love and need football.
There’s no doubt about it that Antonio Brown would be a welcomed addition in Miami. If it was two or three years from now, by all means, bring him on. Unfortunately for Miami Dolphins fans its not 2016 anymore. The team isn’t spending like that nor does it have the talent to help support Brown as a playmaker. So for all the Dolphins fans on social media, its not happening.
