Miami Dolphins: Running Backs or Wide Receivers Under More Pressure?

Miami Dolphins vs Patriots

When it comes to winning in today’s NFL, there are plenty of moving pieces that must all be moving in the same direction. There can be one but not multiple weak positions and the team can still have success. Despite their improvement, the Miami Dolphins still need their skill positions to step up in order for Tua Tagovailoa to make the next leap. Looking up and down at the roster, which unit will need to make the biggest impact, the running backs or the receivers? Miami needs to find out how to get the most out of this young team moving forward.

Running Backs

In order for the passing game to be less predictable, Miami’s ground game needs to make a fair amount of improvement. While they don’t possess what most would consider a franchise running back, they have plenty of players who can come up big and can be used situationally. With that being said, the Dolphins still have some questions along their offensive front and Tua can’t be the one leading the team in rushing yards. The Dolphins are gambling and putting faith in their current running backs. Will they step up and show them they made the right call?

Receivers

This unit continues to be the most underperforming unit in the NFL. There’s so much talent on paper but they can’t seem to stay healthy long enough to really be a driving force for the offense. Parker, Waddle, and Fuller should be enough to compete with the top of the league in receiving. Then they have playmakers all along the bottom end of the receivers’ room. Too bad potential doesn’t win football games and someone needs to have a breakout season.

Each year you hear how good the Dolphins receivers “could be” and never enough of how good they are.

When it comes to winning football games, a lot of pressure is on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa but he’s not out there alone. Whether it’s long-term veterans or younger rookies, someone needs to step up and be a game-changer, not just a playmaker.
