Miami Dolphins: Who Is Their Most Valuable Rookie?
Now that the Miami Dolphins are finally coming around, it looks like their draft class is finally coming along. The struggles so far are apparent, but fans are finally seeing these picks make impacts on game day. So far, Jaylen Waddle, Jaelan Phillips, and Jevon Holland are paying off remarkably. Each player has a specific skill set that is changing the way the Miami Dolphins play football, but who is their most valuable rookie so far?
Jaylen Waddle
Waddle has been the go-to target for second-year QB Tua Tagovailoa. Miami wanted to recreate some of the magic at Alabama and so far its working. Waddle is on target to break the rookie record for receptions in a single season. He’s already surpassed the Dolphins record held by former WR Jarvis Landry. The two have mirroring skillsets and careers so far. Can he continue to produce for the long haul in Miami?

Jaelan Phillips
Phillips started off the season slow and is slowly coming into his own. When he was drafted at 18 by the Dolphins, coach Brian Flores was shown smiling ear to ear. It’s clear the Miami Dolphins thought they had something special in Phillips. The past few weeks he’s racked up sack after sack, but he’s also getting a lot more pressure if he’s not getting to the quarterback. If he continues to grow, those comparisons he had to another former Dolphin, Jason Taylor, will become more and more frequent.
Jevon Holland
Holland was said to be a sparkplug at camp and Miami was beyond excited for his ceiling. So far he’s nowhere near it but plenty productive. Holland has been all over the football field and in the backfield just as much. While he doesn’t have the interceptions or sacks, he’s making the plays that matter. He’s forcing quarterbacks to not only move, but rush plays.
The way these young players are developing the Miami Dolphins could have playmakers fans can trust to make big plays. If they can continue to grow and develop past their rookie success, these three will be celebrated every Sunday morning for years to come.
