Miami Dolphins: Who Will Be The Leader On Offense?

Miami Dolphins RB Chase Edmonds

There’s no doubt about it, the Miami Dolphins invested heavily in the offense this offseason. While they have plenty of playmakers on the field, they need to find someone who can be out on the field and take charge. They’d like it to be quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but as long as his play speaks for itself, they might not need him to be. Who could step up?

Tyreek Hill

Hill has already been the most vocal this offseason. He’s thrown his full support behind quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He’s also one of the longest-standing veterans in the Miami Dolphins offense. Drafted in 2016, he’s been near the top in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. He’s also been in many playoff appearances and Super Bowl. Miami might need him to be just as vocal on the field in pressure situations.

Tua Tagovailoa

This one goes without saying. Every team needs the QB to be the field general when it comes to controlling the offense. Tua seems to be opening up his personality a little bit in the offseason, but will it translate on the field. With the team firmly behind Tua, he’ll have no excuse to be reserved. Can he get past the mental block of the old regime if things don’t take off right away? He’s got every opportunity this season. 2022 is his second chance and he needs to lead the team and elevate his play.

Chase Edmonds/Raheem Mostert

The two most unlikely candidates are in the running back room, but there’s no reason they can’t step in. The two are paired together here as they both have the same experience coming over from their previous teams. They both come from teams that had their ups and downs. Both came from teams on the edge of being elite. Both know things can change at a moment’s notice throughout the season. Can they use that experience to help keep this younger team on the right track?

No matter who steps up for the Miami Dolphins, they need to get the team to the next level. It all falls on Mike McDaniel but he’s not on the field with the guys. His support comes from the sideline. The guy out on the field needs to be the one to push the team to new heights and challenge them to get to the next level. However, they also need to be the ones to make sure they stay calm, cool, and collective. The offense was the weak spot for the Miami Dolphins. Who steps up?
