Milwaukee Bucks: Chris Paul is the missing piece this young team needs
The Chris Paul era may be officially over in Los Angeles. With the Utah Jazz eliminating the Los Angeles Clippers Sunday in 7 games it may have sent Chris Paul looking to take his talents elsewhere. While almost every team will roll out the red carpet, only one should roll out two. The Milwaukee Bucks.
With Paul becoming a free agent this season and with the way his career has gone in Los Angeles, it may be time for a Mulligan of sorts. There are teams that are ready to win like the San Antonio Spurs, however, a person with Paul’s resume would do wonders for a young team like the Bucks. To add more intrigue would be the pairing of Paul with the great Jason Kidd.
The Bucks are one of the youngest teams in the NBA but they are loaded with talent. Their main threat is Giannis Antetokounmpo who is on his way to take over the throne that LeBron James holds as the most talented basketball player in the NBA. What sets guys let him apart from the rest is his ability to do everything. He can bring the ball up, dish it off, shoot, attack the rim, play defense and rebound with the best of them. And, he’s a tad under 7 feet tall. He’s a beast.
The rest of the unit is spear-headed by a shooter and slasher, Khris Middleton and Jabari Parker. Both players are dangerous in the open court and have the range to make any defense honest. If paired with Paul their games will flourish the way Steve Nash was able to do for Shawn Marion and Joe Johnson in Phoenix.
Paul will face heavy criticism this offseason for not being able to lead a loaded Clippers team to a championship but that’s the past now. If he were to come to Milwaukee, he gets a clean slate of sorts and can begin to mold this athletic bunch into something more. Paul has played with talent throughout his career with Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Tyson Chandler and David West but he has never played with athletes like the ones currently holding down the fort in Milwaukee.
With the Bucks having given the keys to ROY candidate Malcolm Brogdon, the Bucks may be hesitant to bring Paul in. But how often do you as a small market franchise get a chance to possibly add a top 10 player into your clubhouse? The Bucks are knocking at the door in the Eastern Conference and all that’s missing is a veteran to lead them over the mountain.
Paul is the guy if the Bucks want him.
