MLB Rumors: Baltimore Orioles looking to move Manny Machado, LA a possible spot?

We are now only a few weeks away from the 2018 MLB Trade Deadline. One of the names that the experts expect to be moved in Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado. As of this writing, the Orioles are entering July with the worst record in baseball in 24-59. Many can expect the Orioles to sell some assets come the trade deadline. It seems that Machado will likely be the one of the first major moves for the Orioles heading into the next couple of weeks.

At this point, the teams that are mostly connected with the third baseman would include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Cleveland Indians. It’s worth noting that the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs have expressed interest, but have not gone past that. According to Ken Rosenthal, he does not expect the Brewers and Cubs to meet the price that the Orioles are asking. It seems that many consider the Phillies to now be long shots in acquiring Machado. According to MLB,com’s Todd Zolecki, the Phillies are expecting to make a push for him during the offseason. Simply because the Phillies are more than one piece away from a World Series run.

Take the Phillies out of the equation. That now leaves the Dodgers, Indians, and Diamondbacks as the three likely options. I know there was talk about him possibly going to the New York Yankees, but with how well Brandon Drury has been playing there isn’t a need for him. It is expected that the Yankees will probably make a run at Bryce Harper or Mike Trout during the offseason. In my opinion, I figure he will end up in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have been using Justin Turner there. Not saying that Turner isn’t good (because he has been). I’m just saying if you have the opportunity to put a legit all-star on the left side of the field, then you go for it. It’s also worth noting that the Dodgers are a team that would benefit greatly from the addition of Manny Machado.

The trade deadline in July 31st.
