MLB Rumors: Dodgers looking to shop Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy
We are on the cusp of the Winter Meetings beginning for Major League Baseball and rumors are starting to run wild on who teams are willing to give up.
According to Buster Olney, the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to shop several players and the two biggest names he mentioned were Scott Kazmir and Brandon McCarthy. It seems that the Dodgers have a lot of interest in free agent Rich Hill, but they can not sign him as they already have 39 players on the 40-man roster. So, in order to sign Hill or any other free agent, the Dodgers need to clear some roster space.
Brandon McCarthy is an 11 year player with stints with the White Sox, Rangers, Athletics, Diamondbacks, Yankees, and most recently the Dodgers. Since he has been in Los Angeles, he has compiled a record of 5-3 with a 5.29 ERA. It should be noted that he has only pitched 14 games for the Dodgers in his two years of being with the organization. It will be interesting to honestly see what the Dodgers can get in return for the 32-year-old pitcher who started in 166 games. A lot of this is also due to the fact that McCarthy has missed chunks of seasons as he has had severe injuries.

In his only season in Los Angeles, Kazmir would end up having a record of 10-6 with a 4.56 ERA. I suspect that the stock for Kazmir is going to be slightly higher than McCarthy because he has not had terrible numbers during his career. Kazmir can also head to a team that needs help in the back end of the rotation and bullpen.
Overall, it will be surely interesting to see what the Dodgers can get back for these and all the players they are shopping. It should be noted that Buster Olney only mentioned McCarthy and Kazmir, so it’s not known as of this writing who the Dodgers are also looking to shop.
The Winter Meetings begin on Monday morning and it will be interesting to see what deals come from the meetings. Be sure to stay tuned to Inscriber Digital Magazine as we will provide the latest information. This is also just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt.
