MLB Trade Rumors: New York Mets should look to move Jacob DeGrom

We are a few weeks away from the July 31st trade deadline in Major League Baseball. One of the teams that will probably be sellers at the deadline is the New York Mets. Prior to leaving the team, Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson said that everyone is available to be traded. This could have been looked at in two different ways. Either the Mets are throwing in the towel or they have some hope that they can have a repeat of 2015. If I had to put money on it, I would put my bet on the first one being the likely option.

Since Alderson made this statement, New York Mets fans are trying to figure out who would likely be on move. It seems that the two names being brought up a lot are Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard. As of this writing, Jacob deGrom has a 5-4 record with a 1.84 ERA. In addition, he has 134 strikeouts with a WHIP of 1.02. On the other hand, Noah Syndergaard has a 4-1 record with a 3.06 ERA. He has 76 Strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.16. I feel that Jacob deGrom will be the one the Mets likely trade between those two. For starters, he is in the prime of his career now. With how the Mets are playing, I find it highly unlikely that they will be contenders.

In addition, the Mets are wasting deGrom’s prime years. He needs to go to a team that is a contender. Some of them would include the Houston Astros, New York Yankees, or Cleveland Indians. In the National League, he could go to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, or Chicago Cubs. He needs to go to a team that will be playing into October. On the other hand, I would re-sign Noah Syndergaard to a new deal soon. When you look at baseball at the bottom line, it’s a business. You want what is best for the player, even if that means them going to another team.
