The Houston Astros Should Have Their World Series Stripped

Spring Training is set to begin for many teams in MLB this weekend. However, there seems to be one team that’s been talked about a lot during the off-season for the wrong reason. It was discovered that the Houston Astros cheated to win their first World Series in 2017. MLB’s investigation found they used trash cans and other things to know what the opposing pitcher was going to throw. Where it’s gotten worse in the aftermath of the situation.

The players on the Houston Astros were granted immunity (so none of them will be facing any sort of punishment). We would end up seeing AJ Hinch, Alex Cora in Boston, and Carlos Beltran with the New York Mets all lose their jobs. The report did discover that the whole cheating thing was done by Cora and Beltran.

However, MLB is now going to face a much bigger problem. Due to no punishment being placed with the players, what are they going to do if and when another team is caught cheating? With how MLB has handled the Astros players, they have set a precedent.

However, there is a way to remedy that. If I were Major League Baseball, I would strip the Astros of their 2017 World Series. Since your not going to suspend the players, this is the next best thing to do. When you think of the 2017 World Series, you are not going to think of a team that overcame the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers. With what we know, you are going to think of a team that cheated.

I know Rob Manfred doesn’t want to strip them because it’s never been done, I disagree with that. If you don’t set the example now with the Astros, you are basically saying that any team can cheat because of fact that the players won’t be punished. The 2017 Houston Astros are on the same level as the 1918 Chicago White Sox.

MLB should do something soon because you are going to have this linger on into the season.
