Money Heist: No Success Without The Deaths of Nairobi And Tokio
Let me make this perfectly clear. I hated seeing Nairobi and Tokio killed off Money Heist. There was no joy in watching two of my favorite characters die on the show, but after watching the last 5 episodes of Season 5, I now understand why their deaths were so important for the ending.
Nairobi was lost in Season 4 and Tokio was lost during a great battle in Season 5. However, during those moments, it was hard to figure out why it happened. With the cast mostly male-dominated, what was the point of killing off two central figures who were strong female characters?
Yes, Nairobi and Tokio were hotheads but that’s what made their characters so important to the robberies. Tokio and Nairobi were a force on their own, but together, they were the heart and soul of the team. Fans wondered how the rest of the heist would go without their presence and the last remaining episodes of Season 5 proved that their deaths were beneficial to the success of The Professor’s plan.

Although he didn’t envision either of the women dying inside the bank, their deaths were the reason why the plan was successful.
Think back to when the team was captured. Now think about Nairobi and Tokio. There was no way that either of these two women wouldn’t have gone down without a fight. Imagine Nairobi being in Manila’s place when the Spanish Army busted through the windows and caught her in the hall. If that were Nairobi, she would have shot first. The same goes for Tokio if she was in the same position.
Those two women never understood the art of surrender. This was not part of the plan that The Professor shared with the team. He had a plan just in case this went down but no one but Palermo knew. If Nairobi and Tokio were alive, there would have been a blood bath. That’s why it was so important for the writers to kill them off to help with the big illusion.
Losing both was a huge blow to the team and for the fans. However, in the grand scheme of things, their deaths were the reason it was possible for everyone to get out alive with a successful heist.
