NASCAR: Martin Truex Jr. Slams into Wall at Bristol (Video)

It’s been an interesting The Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol on Saturday night. There was a crash on the second lap of the NASCAR race and Martin Truex Jr. was the latest driver to fall victim to contact on the track. Kyle Busch made contact with Martin Truex Jr. as the latter driver’s car then made contact with multiple walls.

Short-track racing brings an additional set of emotions to the track. Drivers have to be extra careful when making moves around other cars. In this case, Busch misjudged and made contact with Truex Jr.’s car before his car hit a few walls. Truex Jr. had a good night going before he crashed on lap 432.

He was looking for his first Cup Series win at a short track. Truex Jr. was clearly frustrated as he brought his damaged car to pit row after the incident.

Bristol’s short track brings an extra level of drama and emotion to the already high stakes in NASCAR’s top series. This race is also important as the end of the regular season will be coming to the end in short order.

Luckily for Truex Jr., he was released quickly from the infield after being looked at by medical personnel. Likewise, there’s a week off next week for the Cup Series before the drivers have two more races in the regular season.

All in all, Kyle Busch didn’t crash Truex Jr. on purpose. The two drivers are essentially teammates and aren’t villans with each other by any means. Crashes happen in NASCAR and miscalculations happen often. That is what happened in this case. It’s unfortunate and Truex Jr.’s camp is especially frustrated. However, they and Truex Jr’s family should be careful not to label Busch as a “moron” or other strong words.

Truex Jr. had a chance to win NASCAR’s Saturday night race at Bristol. Unfortunately, things didn’t go Truex Jr and Furniture Row Racing’s way this time around.
