NBA: Lonzo Ball would help the New York Knicks next season

As the Knicks are just trying to get to the end of the season, they need to start looking at the future in the upcoming NBA draft. While they are looking towards resigning Derrick Rose, they are going to need to get someone who can help Rose. There are not many free agents who would be willing to come to the Knicks, they should look towards Lonzo Ball and the NBA Draft.

It is expected that the Knicks will have a top 5 pick in the draft, they are in line to probably go after one of the big names coming out of college. One of those names coming out of college is the UCLA Bruins point guard Lonzo Ball. He has made a lot of news lately because of his father, LaVar Ball, who has touted his son as being the next big thing. His father has also done interviews and he put down some of the greats in this industry.

I see his son being a viable option for the Knicks if he is still on the board. For starters, the Knicks have not a viable point guard since Stephon Marbury. So if Lonzo Ball comes into the Garden and plays the same level that he did while he was at UCLA, he could be a viable point guard for the Knicks. Another reason why he would be viable for the Knicks is it could quiet his father.

Throughout his time in college, LaVar Ball kept making comments that would tout his son. However, it has been getting bad over the last few months. If the Knicks were to draft Lonzo Ball in the NBA Draft, the pressure of the New York media could be what quiets LaVar Ball. I have lived in NY all my live, they are very hard on their athletes.

Finally, the last reason why Lonzo Ball would be a benefit for the Knicks is his stats. In the 2016-2017 season for the UCLA Bruins, he averaged 14.6 points per game, 6 rebounds per game, and dished out 7.6 assists per game. All of those are great numbers and could help the Knicks.
