Washington Wizards: Does Scott Brooks deserve to be on hot seat?
We are still early in the NBA season, however, there happen to be several coaches who could be out of a job if their team doesn’t turn it around. In my humble opinion, one of the coaches whose seat is getting warmer happens to be the Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks. Prior to becoming the head coach of the Wizards, he spent seven seasons with the Seattle Supersonics/ Oklahoma City Thunder where he would end up putting a record together of 545-338 (regular) and 73-39 (playoffs).
The Wizards have had a slow start coming out of the gate with a record of 6-10. So, I bet you’re asking yourself, “Why is Scott Brooks on the hot seat in the first year of his deal with the Wizards”?

For starters, he is mishandling how many minutes he is playing players. This is shown with Marcin Gortat, who happens to be the oldest player on the team. He’s averaging 34.9 minutes per game with an average of 11.4 points per game. If the Wizards want to make a run in a weak Eastern Conference, you don’t want to drain him out so early. Brook’s leading scorer, John Wall is not playing a ton of minutes himself. In, all honesty, if he’s the leader of your team, then he should be playing the most. Another reason Brooks is on the hot seat, in my opinion, is that the offense is playing crappy. In many of the offensive categories, the Wizards are towards the bottom of the NBA.
Unfortunately, the schedule for the Wizards is not easy to wrap up the 2016 calendar year. Some of the opponents they face between now and the end of the year are the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, Pacers, and Hornets to name a few. These are all teams that should have some sort of presence when it comes to the playoffs.
To put it simply, the Wizards need to win some of these games now because if they don’t make it to the playoffs this season then Brooks could be done at the end of the season. Due to how weak the Eastern Conference happens to be this season, the expectations are very high for the Wizards. On the flip side, Scott Brooks never had to deal with this type of expectations while coaching the Thunder because of the fact the Thunder had Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and others who contributed. I feel a lot of the Wizards offense comes through John Wall.
