NBA Trade Rumors: Boston Celtics Are Interested In Tyreke Evans And Lou Williams
The Boston Celtics are not done making moves before the NBA trade deadline is up according to Bleacher Report. Even after the signing of Greg Monroe, Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald believes that Tyreke Evans and Lou Williams are main targets for Danny Ainge before the deadline.
Bulpett sees both as great additions off the bench to help the Eastern Conference-leading Celtics as they continue their quest to unseat the Cleveland Cavaliers as reigning East champs. Bulpett did state that one of the issues for the Celtics, especially concerning Evans is that the Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a first-round pick for his services. This is something Ainge has scoffed at as he’s looking for a trade with fair market value.
[MarkAds]Evans has played well for the Grizzlies this season with averages of 19.5 points while also shooting a career-high 39.2 percent from three-point range this season. This moves also comes on the heels of the Celtics placing Marcus Smart on the trade table according to Bleacher Report.
Are Williams or Evans Great Fits For The Boston Celtics?
The Clippers have decided to hit the fire sale sign on their team already by trading Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons earlier this week. With rumblings of Lou Williams and DeAndre Jordan next to go, Ainge also has his sights on the former Sixth Man of the Year winner. For the season, Williams has averaged 23.5 points per game while also shooting 39 percent from three-point range.

Both Williams and Evans will become free agents after this season and each has the experience to help some of the younger Celtics’ player such as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown manage through the trenches of the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics are led by Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, however, with Smart on the trade block, the Celtics will need to replace his bench scoring. This is where either Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans makes sense.
If Ainge is willing to give up a first-rounder for either player, he must act quickly as both players have been linked to numerous teams over the last week. A move for either player will place the Celtics as the favorite to come out of the East especially with the recent struggles of the LeBron James-led Cavaliers.
