Netflix: Curse of the Iron Fist – Cavemen Radio Show
After season 1, it would’ve been no surprise that Netflix decided not to continue with Marvel’s Iron Fist. After season 2 Netflix decided to pull the plug on the once promising show. A spin-off of their first hit show for Marvel, Daredevil, Iron Fist wasn’t as close of a success story. The first season struggled to balance old school Kung fu movies with more modern story telling. Season 1 was met with much criticism and disappointment.
After a strong showing of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage Iron Fist didn’t quite hit the mark. However, season 2 was more of what viewers were looking for. Danny Rand was more likable, had a clear and precise mission, and was met with much better reception. With great supporting characters like Misty Knight and Colleen Wing the show the show had plenty to go on. However, even after season 2 did a complete turn around, it wasn’t enough to save the show. For those looking to continue the stories of Iron Fist, fear not. There is still hope for the character. Even with the future of the team-up show Defenders still up in the air, there have been plenty of teases for Iron Fist’s characters to go on. Throughout their many series, Marvel/Netflix have teased both Heroes for Hire and Daughters of the Dragon. If Netflix has any interest in those story lines, then cancelling Iron Fist was the right move.

Heroes for Hire was owned by Luke Cage and Daniel Rand (Iron Fist). It had offices on Park Avenue and two paid employees: Jenny Royce, the group’s secretary and Jeryn Hogarth, the group’s lawyer and business representative. Heroes for Hire would not accept jobs that involved extralegal activities.”**
“The Daughters of the Dragon are the duo of Colleen Wing and Misty Knight, fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They first appeared as a team in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #32 (January 1977) in a story titled Daughters of the Dragon written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Marshall Rogers. This followed the introduction of each individual character in mid-1970s Iron Fist stories.”**
Both stories would spin-off into great team-up films with characters that had plenty of on-screen chemistry. The pairing of Cage/Rand or Wing/Knight brings characters who on paper are opposites but share enough similarities to make compelling television. And then of course there’s the opportunity for Disney/Marvel to revive the character with their new streaming service. While Netflix might be passing on season 3 of Iron Fist. If the character can have a strong showing with cameos and side stories in future episodes of the remaining shows, Disney may choose to revive the show on 2019’s streaming service. One way or another, the show might be cancelled but its not the last we’ll.see of Danny Rand and Colleen Wing.
