The New England Patriots just received a gift today when the news dropped that WR Josh Gordon will be reinstated. Just last season, Gordon was suspended indefinitely in December 2018 for violating the terms of his most recent reinstatement midway through the 2017 season. This was after he had committed “multiple violations” of the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Josh Gordon had this to say last December on the heels of his latest suspension:

“I take my mental health very seriously at this point to ensure I remain able to perform at the highest level,” Gordon wrote in a statement. “I have recently felt like I could have a better grasp on things mentally. With that said, I will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health. I would like to thank Coach (Bill) Belichick, (Patriots owner) Mr. (Robert) Kraft, as well as countless others with the Patriots organization for their continued support. I want to thank my fans for their support as well as I continue down the path to getting back to 100 percent.”

Throughout his career, Gordon has had an issue with substance abuse and on his own, he wanted to seek help. But now that he’s back in the fold, what does that mean for his career and the Patriots?

In 2018 for the Patriots, in 11 games with New England, he caught 40 passes for 720 yards and three touchdowns. His addition will be a welcome sight for the team and Tom Brady.
