New England Patriots: Tom Brady Isn’t Going to Leave

Patriots QB Tom Brady

By now the news has leaked, Tom Brady is set to become a free agent at the end of this season. Everyone is talking about his time as a New England Patriot is coming to an end and where he could end up. Right now, there’s even the school of thought and rumors going around that he could end up in Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys would be a good fit, should they move on from Dak Prescott or a franchise tag agreement not be reached. But if you think that Tom Brady won’t be a Patriot next season, you’re sadly mistaken.

First, while Tom Brady has earned the right to go wherever the heck he wants as a quarterback, New England is not in the position to let him go. For years, due to Brady’s dominance, the Patriots have traded their best back up quarterback and financed their future. Now it’s time to pay the piper and they’re in a tough spot. Even with a guaranteed Hall of Fame quarterback, the Pats offense struggled this season.

While Brady had the reigns, they traded away Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacob Brissett who could be groomed to take over for Brady. While Brissett is struggling after being thrust into the starter role when Andrew Luck retired, Jimmy G. had his first Super Bowl appearance with the 49ers.

Then, of course, there’s the thought that Brady wants more money, which is false. Consistently throughout his NFL career, Tom Brady has taken less money to make sure the Pats fielded a competitive team. He knows just how much taking less money allows the New England Patriots to attract more free agents and that’s where the problem lies. The Pats have been so reliant on their core offensive guys who are on the backside of their career, that at their ages the abuse on their body isn’t worth it if they’re not champions by the end of it.

Tom Brady has nothing left to prove when it comes to championships. At the end of the day, he’s already put himself out of reach for anyone chasing his accomplishments. But at the end of the day, you play to win and Brady always wants to win. He’s got his money, he’s got his records, now he just wants to further rub it in the faces of the teams that past on him in the draft.

When it’s all said and done, Brady just wants to win. If New England doesn’t go out and get him, players, he will more likely walk, and that’s all this is, a threat to walk. No way New England doesn’t listen and lets a 6-time champion walk.
