New York Giants: Baker Mayfield shouldn’t be Eli Manning’s successor
The New York Giants are not in a familiar area.
Since 1965, the Giants have picked within the top 5 only five times( 1965, 1981, 1984, 1996, and 2004). When the 2018 Draft gets started, the Giants will have the second pick. The feeling is that they will probably be taking a quarterback to eventually replace Eli Manning. Although they have Davis Webb on the roster, they don’t feel that he is the right one to replace the future Hall of Famer. Some of the top quarterbacks being mentioned to be going in the draft are Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and Sam Darnold are the three biggest names.
[JonBlayneAds]Personally, I don’t feel the Giants should address the QB situation right away. You don’t know what you have in Webb and it would be foolish to bring in someone new. However, if they end up bringing in a QB with the 2nd pick, it shouldn’t be Baker Mayfield. I am not taking anything from what he does on the field. He is one of the better QBs on the field. However, he seems to be a bit of head case and the Giants really don’t need that headache. They don’t need another headache cause they have Odell Beckham Jr.
In addition, I could see nothing but problems for someone like Mayfield in New York. The glamour will probably get to his head. If I were the Giants and I am sticking to having the second pick, I would take Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold. In the case of Mayfield, he needs to goo a team that won’t put up with his crap. They would need to be able to put him in his place.
The New York Giants are in a prime position in this year’s draft. The Colts and Browns are more than likely to not take a quarterback. After I looked at the top ten picks, I see the Jets being the only other team to take a QB.
