New York Giants: Three-Round Mock NFL Draft
The New York Giants are coming off a decent 2016 campaign in which the team went 11-5. However, the competitive Giants lost in the Wild Card round. The Green Bay Packers routed them by the score of 38-13. While they did have several needs, Jerry Reese was able to get a few of them figured out in the offseason as they signed Brandon Marshall and Geno Smith from the Jets.
In addition, they were able to re-sign defensive lineman, Jason Pierre-Paul. As the Giants look towards the NFL Draft at the end of April in Philadelphia, PA, they are need of a few spots on the team. They have needs in the tight end area, linebacker, and their defensive line could use some help.
Without further or do, here is my three round mock draft for the New York Giants.
Round One, Pick 23
Ryan Ramczyk – Tackle, Wisconsin
It seems that for the last few years, the Giants have had a tough time in keeping Eli Manning upright. They also were only able to rush the ball 3.5 yards per game last year, which is not good at all. He has good footwork and is able to handle Eli Manning’s blindside. It also helps the fact that he is 6-foot-6 and weighs 310 pounds, which helps big time. This addition would give Eli more confidence in the pocket and allow the Giants to use the running game more.
Round Two, Pick 55
Raekwon McMillian – Linebacker, Ohio State
Another area that has gone downhill in the last few years is the linebackers. If McMillian is still on the board here, I do not see why the Giants do not take him. He has the build in being 6-foot-3 and weighing 240. He has the speed that can help put pressure on opposing QB’s and make running backs have a long day, Also they don’t have any of their current linebackers signed passed 2017, so they need to build for the future.
Round Three, Pick 87
Gerald Everett – Tight End, South Alabama
The Giants have not had a serviceable tight end since the Jake Ballard days and have not had a decent tight end since the Jeremy Shockey days. Everett may not be the household name, but you put him on a team like the Giants and he could make something of himself. I smell something similar to when Victor Cruz was a walk-on for the Giants a few years back.
Here is my mock draft for the New York Giants for the first three rounds. The NFL Draft happens in two weeks in Philadelphia, PA and it will be interesting to see if Jerry Reese continues to use the need approach and not a want approach.
