At MetLife Stadium, we saw the battle of the top two quarterbacks taken in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, it ended up not being what people expected as neither Daniel Jones nor Kyler Murray were at their best. Murray went 14/21 and threw 104 yards. On the other side, Daniel Jones was 22/35 and threw for 223 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. However, the Cardinals were able to get the win and go to 3-3-1. The Giants fall to 2-5.

The Cardinals came out of the gate strong with Chase Edmonds getting into the end zone This capped off a 13 play, 75 yard drive that took about six and half minutes. The Giants first drive ended on an interception as they were facing a long third down. The Cardinals would respond with a three play 32 yard dive that ended with Chase Edmonds getting into the end zone again. The Giants then would punt the ball away, which the Cardinals responded with a field goal to close out the first quarter. The Giants seemed lifeless out there. You won’t win in the National Football League when the first two drives end up in an interception and a punt. Also, your defense then allows the offense to march down three times and score 2 touchdowns and a field goal.

The Giants wouldn’t see the end zone until the second quarter when Daniel Jones connected with Rhett Ellison on a 28 yard touchdown. The next touchdown wouldn’t come until the defense blocked the punt and were able to run it back in. Going into the half, the Giants were only down by three points. They were set to get the ball to begin the third quarter. First drive lead to a punt. Here is how the third quarter played out for the Giants: Punt, Fumble, Missed Field Goal. While that was happening, the Cardinals were able to score again as Edmonds had his third touchdown of the day. Saquon Barkley was able to get the third touchdown for the Giants to bring the game within three points again.

Both the offense and defense played terrible in the game. They need to stop turning the ball over so much and need to stop making little mistakes. The Giants play the Detroit Lions next week as the Cardinals head into New Orleans riding a three game winning streak.
