New York Jets: After Sunday’s Blowout Loss, it’s Time to Fire Todd Bowles

The New York Jets are entering their Week 11 bye losers of four straight. The feeling was that if they could make it to .500 by the break, then there could still be a remote shot at the playoffs. Now that they are entering the bye week at 3-7, the season has gone downhill. With the team facing another losing season, there are people in New York who are hoping that the New York Jets owner decides to make a mid-season change.

Prior to their Week 12 matchup against the New England Patriots, fans of the New York Jets are hoping that they fire Todd Bowles. Todd Bowles has been the head coach of the New York Jets since 2015. In that time, he has had one winning season. His coaching record is 23-34 with no playoff wins. When the Jets hired him, it was because of the fact he was such a defensive guru. Except for one season, the Jets defense has been one of the worse in the National Football League. Fast forward to the Buffalo Bills game in Week 10. How do you allow Matt Barkley to look like he did on Sunday? He was the Bills fourth quarterback and the Jets made him look great.

You get New England right after the bye week. After how the New York Jets played going into the bye, one could only imagine how bad of a game it will be. However, Todd Bowles shouldn’t be on the sideline. He doesn’t know what he is doing. Let’s look at the fact that the Jets need a coach to help develop Sam Darnold. Todd Bowles shouldn’t be that guy. There have been too many examples in the five years that Bowles has been the head coach where he has made a bad coaching move.

Thus, if I were the New York Jets, don’t wait to make this move after the season. Do it now and then you can go into the offseason looking for the right coach.
