New York Mets Can Make Postseason Thanks To Remaining Schedule

The New York Mets are still in the playoff hunt according to Call To The Pen. Despite going fighting through a tough stretch where a losing streak in August and early September almost cost them a spot, the Mets have gotten back to winning.

In their last 10 games, the Mets have gone 7-3 while their competition has struggled, except for the Milwaukee Brewers. The Washington Nationals are leading the National League Wild Card by 1.5 games with the Mets trailing the Chicago Cubs and Brewers by just 2 games.

According to Ben Fadden, thanks to the Mets schedule to end the season, there is a chance.

Another plus for the Mets is their schedule isn’t entirely difficult. Once the Dodgers series concludes this weekend, they only play one postseason contender the rest of the regular season.

They match up against poor teams including the Colorado Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, and Miami Marlins.

What the New York Mets must do is not take any game for granted. While three of their last four series are against losing teams, they still will end the season against the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves. At that moment is when the Mets need to be at their best.

On the other side, the Philadelphia Phillies are right behind the Mets in the Wild Card race. The Phils have a tougher schedule but if they can get hot and the Mets slip, things could get interesting. Right now, it’s all about setting focus on their own goals and no other team.
