New York Mets: The next manager needs to have experience in winning
The New York Mets were one of several teams to fire their manager following the 2019 season. On October 3,2019; it was announced that Mickey Callaway won’t be returning to manage the New York Mets. Now that are searching for their 22nd manager in the team history, there have been a few names floating around. Some of them include former manager Joe Giradi, Buck Showalter, Mike Matheny, Joe Espada, David Cone, and Carlos Beltran are just some of the names being mentioned. With guys like Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Michael Conforto, Jacob DeGrom, and Noah Synndergaard who are some of the key players to the future of this team. With that much talent, you don’t want to waist it.
If the Mets front office hires someone like Carlos Beltran or Derek Shelton who have no managerial expierence, then this team will still be mediocre. They need someone who knows what it takes to win in October. Joe Girardi and Mike Matheny have expierence in October and at this point that is what the Mets need. It would suck to see guys like Pete Alonso and Jacob DeGrom have great careers, but have nothing to show for it. An example of this is Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. He has been playing 11 years for the Dodgers. In those 11 years, he has been selected to the All Star game eight times, won the 2014 NL MVP, three time Cy Young Award, and various other awards. Kershaw’s stats would get him into the Hall of Fame, but not having a World Series ring will hurt him.
DeGrom is in the same boat. He has had a great career so far and has nothing to show for it. You need the right guy leading this Mets team in 2020 if they want to not be seen as a joke. The Mets have a team that can win it, but won’t if they have some manager who’s a rookie.
Let us know in the comments below, who would you like the Mets to hire as the next manager?
