New York Yankees: Who gets credit for the hot stretch?

As we are a month into the 2018 season, it seems the New York Yankees are becoming almost unbeatable. After starting off the season playing .500, they have turned it around to the point that they have won 17 of the last 18 games. This wasn’t done since the 1953 season. You can give credit to every area of this team as it has not only the best record in the American League but the best record in Major League Baseball.

Let’s first look at the pitching. Coming into the season, many expressed concerns with the pitching. For starters, Luis Severino was one of the pitchers that people were highly concerned about. They weren’t sure if he would be able to perform to the levels that he did last year. During the 2017 season, he would end up pitching to a 14-6 record with a 2.98 ERA. It seems that he is only getting better as he currently has a record of 5-1 with an ERA of 2.21.

He has become the ace of this team. While he has pitched well, he isn’t the only one. You can also give credit to guys like CC Sabathia, Jordan Montgomery, and Masahiro Tanaka. While the pitching has done well, there are other areas that are deserved to get credit.

The hitting has done its share. While you have guys like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton start to hit their stride, there are others. It seems that you are getting help from everyone from Brett Gardner to Neil Walker. During this eight-game winning streak, you are getting help from everyone. The bullpen has been a bit shaky, but it has done what it must do. What people also seem to forget is that this is a young team and will be the top for another five to ten years.

The 2018 season will be fun if you’re a fan of the New York Yankees as this could be a repeat of 1998.
