NFL: 5 Good Teams To Regress In 2021

Drew Brees

Looking back on the 2020 NFL Season, plenty of teams looked like competitors. Some were early playoff contenders while others pushed for a Super Bowl run. With a lot of moving and shaking going on in the NFL, which of last year’s teams could struggle this year?

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle did a lot this offseason to make progress towards a Super Bowl. Unfortunately for them, so did the rest of their division. Today’s NFL is ever-changing and despite their moves, the Seahawks doubled down on their success and ignored key areas. If The Cardinals or Rams improve this season, it will be tough for the ‘Hawks to hold on to the top spot.

Green Bay Packers

Green Bay might get the Aaron Rodgers situation under control before the season starts, but might not be in time. There’s growing frustration between the franchise and franchise QB. Just how much of the frustration will spill over into the season and where will the trust fall. With they get all their ducks in a row or free fall in standings this season?

New Orleans Saints

Look at the early 2000s for examples of what happens when future Hall of Fame quarterbacks retire. Elway, Marino, and Kelly took their teams to the max and it took years for them to return to form. Only the Broncos recovered with the help of another future HoF’er. With Drew Brees gone, it’s going to take some growing pains for the Saints to stay on track. They’ve got limited cap space and few picks. Now they’re looking at a creative rebuild with limited holdover, don’t expect another 10-win season.

Indianapolis Colts

While Philip Rivers struggled last season, his game was enough to win 11 games in the AFC South. Rivers retired this offseason leaving the team to newly acquired Carson Wentz. Wentz struggled in his final days as an Eagles QB and there’s a limited chance he turns it around right away. The Titans will still be tough. The Jags have a winner in Trevor Lawrence. The Texans might be in rebuild mode but even then there’s no guarantee they’ll be a cakewalk.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers were the biggest fraud of the 2020 NFL season. They started off as hot as a team can get. Unfortunately, they were exposed in the back third of the season. Their division won’t get any easier and Big Ben is getting a little older. Look for the Ravens and Browns to make it very tough on the Steelers to recover to their early 2020 form.

Each year teams flip from great to average and from average to bad. Who will be worse off in 2021?
