NFL: Antonio Brown eyes return, but wants off-field issues resolved
It’s safe to say that 2019 has been rather chaotic for Antonio Brown. In one year, he went from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders and finally to the New England Patriots. However, it seems that he had problems with every team he went to. After the New England Patriots released Brown, he went on record by saying how he would not walk on the field every again. However, it now seems that his mindset has changed.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Antonio Brown wants to resolve his off-field issues that would allow him to make a return to the NFL. From what Jeremy Fowler found out was that Brown is hoping to have his playing status cleared up in the next couple of weeks before signing with a team. If you recall, Antonio Brown is currently under investigation by the NFL under its personal conduct policy. This is following a lawsuit that was filed by Brown’s former trainer who made allegations that she was sexually assaulted by him on multiple occasions. In addition, he is accused of sexual misconduct at his home by an artist who was working with him in 2017. A few weeks ago, the NFL made a statement that said that Brown would end up being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list while he is a free agent. However, they laid down the law by saying that if Brown were to sign with a team, he would be put into an appropriate placement depending on the status of the investigation.
It seems that Brown is waiting until everything is clear, so that when he does sign he can go out and play. I thought once he signed with the Patriots, he would shape up. If he were to sign, it needs to be with a team that has leadership and won’t put up with this. It would be interesting to see which team does sign him.
