NFL: Best Landing Spots For Dalvin Cook

NFL RB Dalvin Cook

Dalvin Cook looks to be done in Minnesota as part of the Vikings organization. Luckily for him, there should be plenty of offers coming his way for a 4x Pro Bowler with some gas left in the tank. Some people claim he’s lost a step, so maybe he’ll end up somewhere he’s not the featured back. There are options out there before the season or preseason even starts. There are already a few rumored to be in so where would he fit best?

The Miami Dolphins

The Florida native might be looking to make a trip back home and the Dolphins should welcome him with open arms. Cook could either be a big piece of the Miami offense or be a role player sent in in specific situations. He wouldn’t need to be the number 1 guy in the backfield and would be part of an offense that opens up the field for him. Miami has a long list of speedy players that are going to give opponents fits trying to keep up with. If given too much space, Cook is still a RB who can make defenses pay. The Dolphins have depth at running back but will look to keep their guys fresh throughout the season so they’ll more than likely have plenty of production as well as a focus on health. Cook fits in 100% in their talented offense.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo is a less likely option despite their “need”. They don’t have the cap space to make a big push for a top veteran free agent. The only way he makes it to Buffalo is a team-friendly deal to reunite with his brother, James Cook. Still, Buffalo would be a great fit for him as they need as many players as they can to take pressure off of Josh Allen. Not that Allen can’t handle the pressure nor the running responsibilities, but keeping him with fresh legs throughout the course of the season would be ideal. The less he has to do on the ground, the more he can do through the air.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have been looking around the NFL for a complimentary back ever since they let Ezekiel Elliot go. Tony Pollard took the pressure off of their run game but a second back to split carries with wouldn’t hurt. Cook would be in the same position with the Cowboys as he would be with the Bills. Both teams have QBs who have taken too many chances running the football. Both are often playoff favorites but can’t quite get over the hump. If he went to either he could provide the spark they need.

Some people are saying Dalvin Cook could go to the Denver Broncos but that would be a waste of time. Not that the Broncos aren’t an option but there are too many unknowns. First of all, there was plenty of finger-pointing going around last season in regard to their struggles. Will Russell Wilson return to the old Russ? Can Sean Payton work his magic? How long will the new culture take to implement under a new HC?

Dalvin Cook may or may not have lost a step, but he’d still be an upgrade on many NFL rosters this season. So where will he land?
