NFL: Biggest Upsets Through Week 4
The 2023 NFL season is roughly 25% over already and there are already some surprises and plenty of upsets. Which team are the biggest disappointments so far?
New York Giants
The Giants were the surprise of last season. Brian Daboll looked like he had Daniel Jones on the right path. Jones had his moments that were very reminiscent of Josh Allen in Buffalo. Daboll had Jones taking less risks and thus turning the ball over much less. When in doubt, run it out. Unfortunately, a year later Jones looks to be back to his old ways. Right now, it’s early enough the Giants have time to turn it around. Even more unfortunate is the run on tough opponents is coming. They’ll face Miami and Buffalo before their next division opponent in Washington. Then they’ll face a tough Jets defense, face the Raiders, then division rival Cowboys. The Giants need a fix fast.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals went from Super Bowl contenders to playoff contenders, to 1-3. Joe Burrow is looking like the NFL is catching up to him. The sophomore contract slump is real with Joe Burrow. It’s not rare that a star player takes a step back after signing their first big contract extension after their rookie deal and Burrow seems to have taken that step back. He’s got the talent around him, but he’s just not looking like the same player he was last year.

Jacksonville Jaguars
A 2-2 record for the Jacksonville Jaguars through their first 4 games would usually be respectable. However, the Jags won their division at 9-8 last season and look like they’re on pace to finish with a similar record. The only problem is, they were picked to be the sleepers and do more than just upset contenders. Trevor Lawrence looked to be the next elite quarterback and is showing signs of struggle. They’re still even with the entire division as far as record goes, however, it looks like they’re more likely to keep teams out of the playoffs than make it themselves. The Jags have talent but they’re not living up to their potential
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are one loss away from their 2022-2023 total and it’s only week 4. The Kirk Cousins-led Vikings chance at a championship seems to be closing. The team has struggled at times and faced some tough competition losing to the Bucs, Chargers, and Eagles. Their sole win comes against a winless Panthers team. No part of this team looks as explosive as they were last year. Can the Vikings turn their NFL season around?
