NFL Fans Whose Teams Should Panic After Week 7

NFL’s Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills AFC EAST

NFL Week 7 action was full of ups and downs. Which means its time to kick off the week 7 list of panicked fans:

Dallas Cowboys

Things are getting ugly in Dallas, and getting there quick. The team keeps getting its share of lumps. Reports of the players not trusting the coaches have surfaced. Now Jerry Jones is in the mix denying the rumors on lack of leadership. So far, it will take a miracle to get the Cowboys back on track and not even Jerry’s money can make that happen. The division is up for grabs but the Dallas Cowboys look to be as bad as the New York Jets.

Chicago Bears

Chicago stalled, end of the story. The road to the Super Bowl goes through tough defenses and the Rams proved it. They might not be the top defense in the NFL but they held the Bears in check. Chicago needs more big-play ability if they’re looking to keep stride with the rest of the playoff contenders should they make it. If not, an early exit will be in their playoff future.

New England Patriots

If ever there was an NFL team fans couldn’t wait to fall, it was the New England Patriots. This dynasty has been the thorn in teams and fans’ side for years. Despite all the hype in the preseason, the Patriots look like they’re in free-fall mode. Their struggles were noted once they moved on from Tom Brady but fans were reassured they were back on track when they signed Cam Newton. Jarrett Stidham was even mentioned as “the best QB left in the division” at one point. However, New England is losing spectacularly and needs to course-correct.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Yes, Pittsburgh is the last remaining unbeaten team so right now they’re in full control of their destiny. However, as a Steelers fan, there’s cause for concern. Walking away with a win shakes off a lot of panic, but Pitt got out to an early 24-7 lead against the Tennessee Titans. They would go on to finish the game 27-24. Yes, teams who are up that big go into clock mode but as soon as Tennessee started to rumble back it was time to put the foot back on the gas. Finishing with just 3 points in the second half against a good football team leaves a lot of tape for playoff-caliber teams to watch. If I’m Pittsburgh, I’m not scheduling that Super Bowl parade just yet.

New York Jets

Nothing is worth panicking over when your team hasn’t won all season long. However, it’s what’s being tossed around outside the football season that Jets fans should be panicking over. Rumor has been floating around that Trevor Lawrence could return to college next season and forgo this NFL Draft. As a team who’s the only winless team in the NFL, they’d be first in line to sign up for his services. Already Sam Darnold isn’t showing signs of development or progress and his red flags are as tall as they are bright. If Lawrence doesn’t come out next year it would shift the focus down the draft board for the next best guy. Something the Jets have struggled with on draft day for years.

Honorable Mention: Buffalo Bills

Buffalo was the talk of the NFL to start this season. That 4-0 record quickly is 5-2 and very well could’ve been 4-3. Beating divisional opponents twice a year is tough, but Buffalo is slipping and as a Bills fan, you have to be concerned.

Come back next week as we honor the midseason panic mode teams!
