NFL: New England Patriots part ways with Antonio Brown
2019 has been a roller coaster of a year for Antonio Brown. It began earlier in the year as he went on Facebook Live following a Pittsburgh Steelers playoff victory. This is one of the biggest things the NFL doesn’t want there players to do. Then the Steelers traded him to the Oakland Raiders, where matters only got worse. The Raiders would not let him use the same helmet insides that he had in Pittsburgh. This caused major problems between Antonio Brown and management. When it seemed that everything was calm and the Raiders were getting ready to open the season, Brown decided to go on his Instagram account and essentially ask for his release. It was granted. He wouldn’t stay on the market that long as he would be picked up by the New England Patriots in a matter of hours.
He would make his debut for the New England Patriots as they defeated the Miami Dolphins by the score of 43-0. All seemed well in the Antonio Brown drama. Then, a lawsuit was filed that allegedly Antonio Brown raped someone. Now, there have been times before where someone famous is trending in the news and someone tries to steal some of that for a bogus thing. However, this one seemed different if not for nothing than the woman didn’t fail a lie detector test. People within the NFL were curious to see what the Patriots were going to do with Brown.
On Friday afternoon, ESPN Adam Schefter would end up reporting that the Antonio Brown experiment in New England is over. While the Patriots are not known for making this move, this was the right move. Not saying it would have affected their mindset as they play the New York Jets, but it would have been a distraction. Also, I don’t suspect we will see another team pick him up right now. Maybe in a few years from now, but I think we have seen the last of Brown in the NFL for the 2019 season.
