NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles ‘Likely’ To Release Daryl Worley After Arrest
The Philadelphia Eagles traded for cornerback Daryl Worley this offseason for Torrey Smith and while the move was viewed as a win for the Eagles, that may backfire soon enough. According to Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report, the Eagles may cut Worley after his arrest early Sunday morning.

In a move to bolster their secondary, the Eagles sent Smith to the Carolina Panthers for Worley. It was deemed a smart play by Howie Roseman as Smith was rumored to become a cut casualty this offseason. Now, with Worley’s arrest, the Eagles have a tough decision to make regarding his future with the team. There were also reports that Worley was tased and a gun was also found at the scene.
Worley’s arrest would be the second player the Eagles obtained this offseason to have a run-in with the law. Michael Bennett, obtained from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason was charged with felony injury to the elderly after allegedly shoving aside a female staffer while trying to get on the field following the New England Patriots Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons in Feb. 2017.
We are in the process of gathering more information about Daryl Worley’s arrest this morning,” the Eagles announced, per Rapoport.
“My understanding is that it is likely, though not certain, that the Eagles will release cornerback Daryl Worley. Discussions being held among various parties,” Les Bowen of Philly.com tweeted after the Eagles’ statement.
Worley was expected to challenge for a starting cornerback spot this coming season but now it seems that his short tenure with the Eagles could come to an end.
