NFL: Three Coaches Who Could Be on the Hot Seat

We are a day away from the other 26 teams beginning their 2018 NFL season. For various reasons, you will have a coach who is coming into season with a lot of pressure to win. The term used in any sport is being on the hot seat. The biggest reason for why a coach gets put into this situation is that they haven’t made the playoffs for a couple of seasons. There are many coaches who are in this position, but I will be looking at three coaches who are entering the 2018 season on the hot seat.

Here are three coaches who are on the hot seat entering the 2018 season.

1. Todd Bowles (New York Jets)

In three seasons with the Jets, he has gone 20-28. He has failed to make the NFL Playoffs any year he has been here. It seems that the excuse during Todd’s Jet run has been that he hasn’t had the right players. However, how many more years can this be the excuse before you look at the head coach.

2. Marvin Lewis (Cincinnati Bengals)

It seems that Marvin Lewis is always on the hot seat. He has been the coach of Bengals since 2003. In his 15 years, he has never coached a game beyond the Wild Card game and eight of those seasons have been at .500 or below. In most cases, he would have been fired a long time ago. However, it seems that management like Marvin Lewis enough that they want to keep bringing him back. I don’t know what it will take for the Bengals to pull the trigger and fire Marvin Lewis.

3. Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks)

I am aware that he has won a Super Bowl. However, that was five years ago, and he really hasn’t done anything successful since winning Super Bowl 48. I know they have lost a ton of players as of late, but eventually it will fall on Pete Carroll. You would think that he is on a very hot seat because there’s really no wiggle room in the NFC West. The Rams and 49ers are becoming threats in that division. To make it as a wild card team, you will need to win 10-11 games. Since the Seahawks won the Superbowl, they have gotten fewer wins each season.
