NFL Week 1: Biggest Matchups To Kick Off The NFL Season

NFL Logo

The NFL is finally back and there’s plenty to look forward to in week 1.

Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Rams

The Bills and Rams are already early favorites to make the Super Bowl, again. Last year the season started with the same buzz for these two teams. Both teams are powerhouses on both sides of the football. If two teams are favorites to make the Super Bowl two years in a row, what better way than have those two teams play the very first week of the season?

New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins

After the Miami Dolphins shocked the world with the trade of the NFL offseason, they almost immediately had high expectations. Miami has won 3 in a row against New England despite finishing those seasons with worse records. Both Miami and New England have young quarterbacks that need to get to the next level. Talent across the board favors the Dolphins but New England has the experienced coach. An AFC East matchup with enough history to start each team’s season with a bang.

Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings and Packers are one of the better rivalries in the NFL. When the two kick off the season there’s plenty to get excited for. Unfortunately, the fact that it’s week 1 is a bit of a letdown. The Packers are going through a shift in talent at the wide receiver position, the Vikings have been up and down for the past few seasons. Even though it is a great matchup, it’s hard to predict how good either team will be going forward. If this game was week 5-6 and other games had been played in between there’d be a bit more hype. Teams can start slow so a blowout or close victory isn’t an indicator of talent. Still, an early divisional win never hurts in the NFL.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Dallas Cowboys

Tom Brady vs America’s Team is fun no matter which side of the fandom you’re on. You can love either one, you can hate either one, or you can hate them both. Whatever the case may be, you have at least one friend who you can give a hard time to after this week’s matchup. Dak Prescott is looking to prove he deserves to be in the same conversation as Brady, Brady is out to prove he came out of retirement for a reason.

Honorable Mention: Cleveland Browns vs Carolina Panthers

This matchup could’ve easily made this list had the Browns been able to play Deshaun Watson. After they mishandled Baker Mayfield, a revenge game would’ve been great to start the season. But Baker vs Jacoby Brissett doesn’t have the same excitement.
