NFL: Who Needs A Super Bowl Win More, Stafford or Burrow?
The NFL Super Bowl is this weekend and we’re finally getting a matchup that doesn’t have Tom Brady. The Cincinnati Bengals will take on the Los Angeles Rams and it’s the first Super Bowl for both teams’ young quarterbacks. Joe Burrow will face Matthew Stafford and it will be the biggest game of each of their careers. Looking ahead to Sunday, which QB needs to pull off a win the most?
First, Matthew Stafford has been stuck on Mediocre Island for far too long. The Detriot Lions had their ups and downs with Stafford but were never actually in contention for a Super Bowl. He was the lone part of the Lions organization who could stick it out with a team that wasn’t dedicated to winning. The Lions never invested in top-tier talent despite having weapons. For that reason, Stafford wasted a lot of his NFL career that could’ve been spent with a winner. At 34 years old, Matthew Stafford still has a few years left in his career but the league is ever-evolving and they’ll have to find a way to claw their way back in a tough conference.

Then there’s Joe Burrow. Burrow is the new face of the Bengals with talent around him. He doesn’t need a win quite as much as Stafford this late in his career, he might not get another chance. Yes, Burrow is talented and the Bengals are one of the hottest teams in football, but the NFL is tough. If getting to the Super Bowl is a challenge, getting back is harder. While Stafford has it tough in the NFC, the Bengals have a challenge as well. Not only do they have to compete in a tough division with the Ravens and Steelers, but they also have to overcome the Chiefs and Bills. When teams make a deep playoff push, other teams come sniffing around. Burrow and Chase will be locked in for a bit, but who could be on the move. We’ll see how much of these teams stick around in the offseason.
If Stafford wins, it will solidify his carer and cap off years of struggle. If Burrow wins he’ll be the first #1 overall pick to live up to his hype. No one knows if either team will be back to the Super Bowl, but they both could use the stamp on their careers.
